Tax Manager
Location: Portland Metro
Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Our client, a well-established and growing organization with complex multi-entity operations across the U.S. and internationally, is seeking a Tax Manager to join its corporate tax team. This role offers exposure to a diverse tax environment, including federal and state income tax compliance, tax provision work, and strategic tax planning initiatives. Reporting to senior tax leadership, this position is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys navigating complex tax structures, researching technical issues, and partnering cross-functionally to support compliance and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage federal and state income tax returns for multiple entities, including complex corporate structures.
  • Compile and analyze trial balances, tax adjustments, and supporting schedules for tax filings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including deferred taxes and effective tax rate calculations.
  • Calculate and coordinate federal, state, and local tax payments, estimates, and extensions.
  • Research and interpret federal and state tax regulations and assess business impacts.
  • Support state apportionment calculations and tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage correspondence with taxing authorities, including notices, audits, refunds, and examinations.
  • Review tax-related reconciliations and supporting schedules prepared by staff members.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, and operational teams to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants on income tax compliance matters.
  • Assist with tax planning, forecasting, business initiatives, acquisitions, and special projects.
  • Provide support for sales tax, property tax, and other indirect tax matters as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
  • 4+ years of corporate income tax experience.
  • Experience working with complex organizational structures and multi-state tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 tax provisions preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.

Preferred Background

  • Corporate tax experience within manufacturing, industrial, distribution, natural resources, or similarly complex operating environments.
  • Experience working with large data sets and multiple legal entities.
